Pain and Trauma Mission and Vision
The Pain and Trauma Special Interest Group is a collaborative forum dedicated to the study of pain and trauma and the practice of trauma-informed care.
We foster innovative ideas and information exchange and provide education and support to healthcare professionals and organizations.
We advocate for the inclusion of individuals with lived experiences of pain and trauma in research and treatment development.
In particular, we advocate for individuals suffering from pain due to torture, organized violence, and war, endeavoring to ensure their voices are heard, and their needs are addressed.
Pain and Trauma Initiatives
Pain After Traumatic Amputation (PATA) - A Global IASP Initiative
The IASP Pain and Trauma Special Interest Group launched an initiative to address management of pain in individuals (combatants or civilians) who have undergone an amputation due to trauma. The Pain and Trauma SIG are in the process of forming an interdisciplinary global network to connect interested clinicians and researchers and to work towards specific aims to develop research and improve patient care.
