Statement on Pain and Suffering Caused by the Violence of War

IASP Condemns the Pain and Suffering Caused by the Violence of War.

IASP condemns the pain and suffering caused by the violence of war, especially to civilian populations and hospital facilities. We are grateful for the health care workers, physicians, and scientists working hard to relieve pain in difficult and dangerous circumstances.

In March 2022, the 喵咪社区 (IASP) issued the following statement by posting it to the homepage of the organization鈥檚 website:

鈥淚ASP condemns the pain and suffering caused by the violence of war, especially to civilian populations and hospital facilities. We are grateful for the health care workers, physicians, and scientists working hard to relieve pain in difficult and dangerous circumstances.鈥

The statement aligned with the recognition of 鈥淭he right of all people to have access to pain management without discrimination,鈥 in the Declaration of Montreal (2010), which was endorsed by over 145 organizations representing more than 45 countries.

Although the IASP鈥檚 statement condemning the pain and suffering caused by the violence of war was removed from IASP鈥檚 homepage in March of 2025, IASP鈥檚 position remains steadfast.
